A little about me

Hi, I am SUNRISE.

My name is Ifiegbunam Ezekiel Chibuike. I am an art and wedding photographer and a student at the University of Abuja.

I’ve always been passionate about art. From being a talented artist who could paint and draw effortlessly, I developed a deep love for photography. In 2020, five years ago, I decided to pursue my passion for art through photography. For the first time, I felt a sense of purpose and was determined to work hard and unleash my creativity.

While building my career, I found love. It was a beautiful feeling I never thought I’d let go of. However, heartbreak struck, and it almost broke me. This pain shifted my photography style and niche to a darker, more somber tone. I despised love—until I had my first couple photoshoot.

During that shoot, I noticed how happy it made me to see the couple interact—the way they held hands, exchanged glances, and spoke to each other. It rekindled my appreciation for love. That moment changed everything. I fell in love with love again.

Now, some of my exciting moments as a photographer are during couple shoots or weddings. I can’t wait to capture the pure emotions and connections between couples, and seeing their reactions when they view their captured memories fills me with joy.

Relationship with nature

I have always been drawn to the beauty and thrill of nature and adventure. some of my most cherished memories are made hiking along breathtaking trails, camping beneath the vast expanse of twinkling stars, and setting off on road trips that felt like journeys into the unknown. These moments aren’t just about being outdoors—they were about experiencing the pure joy and emotional richness that nature provides.

There’s an unmatched serenity in the whisper of the wind through the trees, a profound peace in the crackling of a campfire as it lights up the night, and an exhilarating sense of freedom in the open road stretching endlessly ahead. These experiences awaken a sense of wonder and gratitude in me, reminding me of how nature has the power to heal, inspire, and reconnect us with our truest selves. To me, every step on a trail, every sunset watched, and every mountain conquered is an opportunity to rediscover the joy, harmony, and emotional depth that lies within and around us.

Photography

photography is the second great love of my life—one that grew out of my first: painting and drawing. From the moment I first held a pencil and painted my first stroke, I was captivated by the power of art to freeze emotions, tell stories, and preserve beauty. That same artistic instinct now guides my hand behind the lens, where every click of the shutter feels like a continuation of the story I’ve always wanted to tell.

Photography, for me, is more than a craft—it’s a calling. It’s the way I connect with the world, one fleeting moment at a time. Through the lens, I’ve learned to see life in layers: the interplay of light and shadow, the vivid hues of a fleeting sunrise, the silent language of human expressions. Every photograph I take is an attempt to hold onto what is fleeting, to preserve what might otherwise be forgotten, and to create something timeless.

My artistic journey has taught me to see beyond what meets the eye. Where others might see an ordinary street or a passing moment, I see poetry—textures, tones, and emotions waiting to be revealed. Whether I’m capturing the quiet elegance of nature, the raw vibrancy of human connections, or the overlooked stories hidden in everyday life, my goal is always the same: to tell a story that stirs the soul.
